Early Intervention
Getting Started
To receive Early Intervention services from the Hancock County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and child must first be evaluated and determined eligible for the Hancock Country Help Me Grow program.
Help Me Grow (HMG) is a free, voluntary program designed to assist expectant parents, newborns, infants and toddlers up to age 3.

Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for Early Intervention require children to:
- Be younger than 3-yeard old
- Be a resident of Hancock County
- Have a documented delayed and/or medical diagnosis
- Participate in the Help Me Grow Program
Services
Once your child has been determined for Early Intervention services, Help Me Grow will assign a Service Coordinator, who will guide you through the process, arrange evaluations, services and meetings.
You also will have primary service provider who will work with you and your family. You and your primary service provider will determine how often you will meet. You will be supported by a team of professionals that will address all of your child's needs.
Hancock County Early Intervention Team consists of:
- Occupational Therapist
- Physical Therapist
- Speech and Language Pathologist
- Developmental Specialist (Teacher)
- Service Coordinator (HMG)
One of these team members will work with your family as the Primary Service Provider. Your primary Service Provider will coordinate the available expertise and work with other members of your team to provide the best care possible for your child. This includes identifying learning activities that are important to your child and family, and creating common goals through an Individualized Family Service Plan.
Accreditation & Qualifications
The Hancock County Board of Developmental Disabilities is accredited by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Our agency is comprised of skilled professionals dedicated to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Our commitment is to provide evidence-based services. Employees are trained in first aid, CPY and RESPECT, a behavior support training, All staff have ongoing training.
