The staff and students at Blanchard Valley School would like to offer a special thanks to the Civitan Club for purchasing a Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit for our school.  The Wii is a wonderful addition to our already existing fitness room.  Being the Adapted Physical Education teacher I am always looking to find ways to get kids moving and participating.  The Nintendo Wii is a great motivator and offers the kids a lot of fun and entertainment while they are exercising.  We have several students that enjoy the jogging game, while every movement that they make is mimicked on the TV screen.  They enjoy watching their little Wii person run and imitate their running movements.  This says a lot for the Wii because many of our students lack the motivation to walk for exercise.  Some students would rather sit down and watch everyone else exercise, but not when the Wii is around.  Our students are improving their balance and coordination as well as building their stamina through Wii skiing, jogging, bowling, tight rope walk, etc….  We can’t thank the Civitan club enough for their generous donation to the students at Blanchard Valley School.

Thanks,

Bob Soellner
